Tissue Requests Procedure

Tissue is distributed through the Central Office located at the University of Maryland in Baltimore.

Tissue availability

Information concerning tissues (central nervous system and systemic organs) and tissue types (frozen, fixed, cell lines) are listed according to disease category. Please review the Catalog on our web site: www.btbank.org .

Material Transfer Agreement

The MTA is available here or can be downloaded from our Central Office web site. This has to be signed by the investigator as well as a legal representative of the investigator's university or organization

Application

Tissue Request Procedure is described here.

Briefly, the investigator needs to submit the following material for review:

A brief statement regarding the research project and the use to which the BTB tissues will be put

Specific details regarding the tissue needed, including brain region, amount of tissue, tissue type (fixed, frozen)

Exclusionary criteria including age, sex and post-mortem interval

NIH biosketch or C.V., including funding information

You can print Tissue Request Form or submit it on-line.

Financial costs incurred by investigators

The investigator assumes shipping expenses and a processing fee to cover costs related to tissue shipping, handling, and processing.
