Letter From the Residency Program Director

From the Program Director

Thank you for your interest in our Pathology Resident Training Program. The pages of this web site allow you to review the many strengths of our Program and the opportunities offered to our residents and fellows.

The patient population at our principal medical facilities — Jackson Memorial Hospital, the Miami Veterans Affairs Medical Center and the University of Miami Hospital and Clinics/Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center — provides the pathology housestaff with a challenging wealth of common and unique pathological materials both in Anatomic Pathology and in Clinical Pathology.

Carefully-designed didactic sessions, problem-based learning slide sessions and resident-presented conferences and journal clubs assist in achieving the required medical knowledge and practice-based learning that are the hallmarks of excellence. We stress active resident involvement with the clinical staff in patient care, along with participation in intra- and interdepartmental conferences, medical student teaching, and research. A formal course in research design and evaluation enhances this component of the program.

We welcome the opportunity to see you in person so that you may see our program and meet with our attending staff and residents.
