Comparative Pathology

The Division of Comparative Pathology is directed by Norman Altman VMD, DACVP. In addition to maintaining an active research program, the division hosts a full service veterinary reference laboratory offering the highest quality clinical pathology and histopathology services. The mission of the division is five fold: 1) provide support to University of Miami investigators which utilize animal models of disease, 2) provide a venue for the education and training of undergraduate and graduate students, 3) provide routine and specialized reference services to other academic institutions, non-profit wildlife research facilities, government agencies, zoological institutions and veterinarians in private practice, 4) design and conduct novel research making use of the unique specimens which are obtained by the laboratory to further the field of veterinary medicine, and 5) explore unique species as animal models of human disease.

There is a team of pathologists specialized in comparative pathology at the University of Miami.
