Genitourinary

The genitourinary  pathology service at the University of Miami works in conjunction with the Batchelor's Urology Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital, Professional Arts Center and Sylvester Cancer Center .  The goal is to bring quality care to a diverse patient population.  Genitourinary biopsies are routinely processed for histomorphology. When required, immunohistochemistry technique is used for evaluation.  The availability of rapid tissue processing allows for timely diagnoses and efficient therapeutic interventions.  There is a biweekly multidisciplinary conference where patients are presented and treatment plans are discussed among the members of the department of pathology, urology and oncology.  Dr. Merce Jorda oversees the genitourinary pathology service and have a special interest in genitourinary cancer education and research.
