Breast Pathology

The breast pathology service at the University of Miami works in conjunction with the Braman Family Breast Cancer Institute at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Taylor Breast Health Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital.  The goal is to bring quality care to a diverse patient population.  Breast biopsies are routinely processed for histomorphology and tested for predictive markers using state of the art immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridization techniques.  The availability of rapid tissue processing allows for timely diagnoses and efficient therapeutic interventions.  There are two weekly multidisciplinary conferences where patients are presented and treatment plans are discussed among the members of the Breast Site Disease Group.  Highly qualified and experienced individuals are responsible for the interpretation of a high volume of diagnostic biopsies.

There is a team of pathologists specialized in breast pathology at the University of Miami. All of them are certified by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic and/or Clinical Pathology.
