Cardiovascular Pathology

The department supports our clinicians by studying endomyocardial biopsies and explanted hearts, which constitute most of the surgical specimens, in the field of cardiac pathology.  The department also offers special expertise in the elucidation of etiologic factors and mechanism of sudden unexpected cardiac death.  These studies often require extensive assessment of the various structural elements of the heart, including the cardiac conduction system.
