Pulmonary/Thoracic Pathology

Our department processes a large number of lung and thoracic specimens that range from neoplastic diseases to a variety of interstitial lung diseases. The specimens include bronchial and transbronchial biopsies, needle biopsies, VATS-obtained specimens, lobectomies or entire lungs obtained trough the lung transplant program as well as consultations. We are involved in a number of studies related to interstitial lung diseases in particular usual interstitial pneumonia in conjunction with the division of pulmonary medicine. Interdepartamental conferences include thoracic tumor board and interstitial lung disease conference. In addition, we support a pathology course for the fellows in pulmonary medicine. The diagnostic service is available seven days a week including holidays.
