Immunopathology
The Division of Immunopathology consists of the clinical services Transplantation and Renal Pathology, Clinical Immunology, and Diagnostic Molecular Pathology. The Division is overseen by Phillip Ruiz, M.D., Ph.D. with two additional faculty, 15 medical technologists, three residents and one Fellow. Areas of research involve transplantation immunology, small bowel transplantation, clinical flow cytometry, experimental autoimmunity and experimental vascular biology. Teaching responsibilities include to medical students, residents and technologists. Frequent seminars are given and there are several ongoing weekly conferences.
There is a team of pathologists specialized in renal pathology at the University of Miami. All of them are certified by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic and/or Clinical Pathology.
