Letter from the Chair

The department of pathology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine is comprised of a vast array of experts in the many disciplines of our specialty. We constantly strive to provide optimal support to our colleagues in the care of their patients by continuously upgrading our laboratory technology in concert with the scientific and often revolutionary developments in the various fields of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. Our commitment to teaching is underlined by a collection of formal departmental and inter-departmental conferences.  In addition, we are involved in daily informal interactions with medical students, postgraduate trainees and others who practice medicine in our medical center and elsewhere.

The extraordinarily immense scope of responsibilities of pathologists to assist in the diagnosis of individual patients’ maladies also provides infinite opportunities to investigate their related tissue alterations by established technology or by the development of new methods.  Our department welcomes these responsibilities and actively contributes to the advancement of our field and medicine in general through research, development and publication of our work.

In closing, I encourage you to learn about our department via this website or by personally visiting our facilities which include one of the largest hospital laboratories in the nation, as many of your colleagues have been doing!
